The aim of the Perspectives in Medical Humanities series is to bring together the visions and analytic approaches from scholars across the ‘two cultures’ divide to demonstrate how multiple perspectives on biomedical issues enhance our overall understanding of social, cultural and humanistic meanings attached to health care. The series is made possible by a grant from the UC Office of the President, support from the Dean of Medicine at UCSF, and the Center for Humanities and Health Sciences at UCSF.
