A History of Neurological Surgery at UCSF: 1912-2015, captures the evolution of neurosurgery at UCSF from its beginnings under the renowned surgeon Howard Naffziger MD to the present day. As the program expanded from a division of the Department of Surgery to a full Department, it became one of the most well-regarded in the nation, known for expertise in every subspecialty, its top-tier residency program, and a rich translational research culture. With over 200 illustrations and many personal recollections, the book celebrates some of the Department of Neurological Surgery’s many milestones and accomplishments. Historical materials from the UCSF Archives collection were used in the research for this publication.

This event is brought to you by UCSF Archives and Special Collections.

Light lunch will be provided.
